Tracy Hibbetts

Candidate for Las Vegas Justice Court, Department 6

“I am a Las Vegas resident for almost twenty-eight years.  I graduated from Valley High School and UNLV. I received my law degree from California Western School of Law.  Prior to law school, I was a paralegal for a civil firm. I have been an attorney at the Clark County Public Defender’s Office for the past ten years. I have handled thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies and represented thousands of individuals in Las Vegas Justice Court.  In addition to my case load, I have been an assistant team chief supervising and mentoring attorneys. In 2019, I launched the Initial Appearance Court with Las Vegas Justice Court, a specialty court that changed the pretrial release procedure for Clark County in 2019. As part of the launch, I was an instructor for a statewide CLE mandated by the Nevada Supreme Court.

I am also very active in our community. I am President-Elect for the Clark County Law Foundation, a non-profit organization known for its Trial By Peers Program, Liberty Bell Award, and Attorney Memorial. I lead a food pantry location in a partnership with The Just One Project. I am a State Bar of Nevada Transitioning Into Practice (TIP) mentor. I am a graduate of the Vegas Chamber Leadership Las Vegas Program. I am also a graduate from the National Judicial College’s inaugural program, Bootcamp for Aspiring Judges in 2019. I am a member of several organizations: Asian Chamber of Commerce, Clark County Bar Association, Hispanics In Politics, Junior League of Las Vegas, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Nevada Justice Association, Nevada Latino Bar Association, Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, and The Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court.”
