The U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada is accepting applications for three Lawyer Representative positions in Las Vegas.

The United States District Court for the District of Nevada is accepting applications for three Lawyer Representative positions in Las Vegas.

Lawyer Representatives assist the Court in improving the administration of justice by providing meaningful input on a wide range of issues affecting federal court operations. These include, but are not limited to, proposed rule changes; development of new programs; planning of judicial conferences; and review of applications for the expenditure of funds from the Attorney Admissions Fund, a non-appropriated account. Lawyer Representatives also support the Court’s outreach and education efforts by assisting with bar education regarding conferences, gathering feedback to improve future conferences, promoting and judging the Ninth Circuit High School Civics Contest, participating in local civics outreach, and fostering improved communication between the Court and the Bar to enhance the judicial system. Lawyer Representatives attend both the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and the District Conference.

To be considered for a Lawyer Representative position, applicants must:

  1. Be admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and actively engaged in federal practice;
  2. Demonstrate interest in the purpose and work of the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and be willing to actively participate in conference planning;
  3. Be willing to actively contribute to the planning of the District Conference; and
  4. Assist in implementing Circuit Conference and District Court programs in collaboration with local bar associations.

In addition to the criteria above, the Court strives to appoint attorneys who collectively represent a broad cross-section of federal practitioners, including those specializing in civil, criminal, appellate, and bankruptcy matters. Lawyer Representatives serve a three-year term, with the term for the current positions beginning September 1, 2026.

Attorneys interested in serving as a Lawyer Representative should submit a letter of interest describing their federal court experience and reasons for seeking appointment to NVD_LawyerRep@nvd.uscourts.gov. Please include your email address and direct telephone number.

Letters of interest must be received by the end of the day on Friday, May 29, 2026. Questions may be directed to the Clerk of Court, Deb Kempi, at (702) 464-5456.
