As you begin your legal career and look for ways to become more involved in the legal community, I strongly encourage you to join the CCBA’s New Lawyers Committee. The New Lawyers Committee welcomes all lawyers in their first seven years of practice, regardless of age.
Networking opportunities available
As a member of the committee, you will have the chance to work alongside incredible colleagues while planning and participating in many of the CCBA’s signature events, ranging from welcoming members of the judiciary at the Meet Your Judges Mixer to showing off your favorite ugly sweater at the annual holiday party. Members regularly connect with attorneys, judges, merchants, and law students throughout the community, creating invaluable opportunities for members to expand both their professional and social networks. If you ever attended the Meet Your Law Students Mixer as a law student, participated in the After Bar Mixer after completing the bar exam, or joined us downtown for our annual Pub Crawl, then you already know how much fun the New Lawyers Committee can be.
The New Lawyers Committee also collaborates with the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law to help with their law student competitions. Whether recruiting volunteers to judge the events or evaluating the students at the competitions, committee members have the opportunity to share their legal knowledge with the next generation of lawyers.
Committee meetings
Committee members typically volunteer about three hours a month to help with bar events. Meetings take place in person at the CCBA office with a Zoom option on the second Thursday of every month. Join in the fun at our next lunch meeting at the CCBA on Thursday, July 10, 2025! For more information, please contact New Lawyers Committee Co-Chairs Alexandra Matloff and Ben Doyle. We hope to see you at our next meeting.
