Clark County Court Orders Case Reassignments Effective May 19, 2025

On May 15, 2025, Eighth Judicial District Court Chief Judge Jerry Wiese signed an order in the administrative matter of general civil, medical malpractice, and criminal case reassignments. Most notably, Administrative Order 25-04 cites NRS 3.025 and ECR 1.30(b) and orders that:

  • All criminal cases currently assigned to Department 24 (LVJC Track 11) shall be reassigned to Department 9.
  • Department 9 shall replace Department 24 in LVJC Track 11 of the Criminal Case Flow Model.
  • 300 general civil cases aged 24 months or less currently assigned to Department 9 shall be randomly selected and reassigned to Department 24.
  • 100 general civil cases aged 24 months or less currently assigned to Department 15 shall be randomly selected and reassigned to Department 24.
  • All civil cases designated as medical malpractice cases currently assigned to Department 9, except for Case Number A-20-823125-C (Lopez v. Sunrise) shall be randomly and equitably reassigned to Departments 1, 5, 7, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 25.
  • Department 9 shall be removed from prospective medical malpractice case assignments.
  • All time-computation writs currently assigned to Department 24 shall be reassigned to Department 3.
  • All prospective time-computation writs shall be assigned to Department 3.
  • Aforementioned reassignments and track change shall take effect on May 19, 2025.
  • Court administration shall attach as exhibits to this order an updated copy of the Criminal Case Flow Model, the list of general civil cases affected by this reassignment, and the list of medical malpractice cases affected by this reassignment no later than May 18, 2025.
