Clark County Court Orders Case Reassignments Effective June 29, 2026

On June 22, 2026, Eighth Judicial District Court’s Outgoing Chief Judge Jerry Wiese and Incoming Chief Judge Tierra Jones co-signed an order in the administrative matter of general, civil, criminal, and family case reassignments. See Administrative Order 26-03 (PDF file to download).

Administrative Order 26-03 cites NRS 3.025 and ECR 1.30(b) and modifies several assignments to further foster consistency, efficiency, and fairness in the administration of services at the court.

Reassignments and orders are extensive and include:

  • In an attempt to pilot, 14 new Business Court model, Judge Maria Gall (Dept. 9). and Judge Joe Hardy (Dept. 15), will 15 be designated full Business Court Judges.
  • All Business Court cases currently assigned to Departments 16, 22, and 31, shall be evenly and randomly reassigned to Departments 9 and 15, Departments 9 and 15 will retain all currently assigned business court cases.
  • All cases currently assigned to Department 13 (civil and business court cases) will remain with Department 13.
  • All of Department 9’s civil cases shall be transferred and reassigned to Department 22.
  • Department 22 will retain its Chapter 40 Constructional Defect cases.
  • All of DC I5’s civil cases shall be transferred and reassigned to Department 31.
  • Department 31 will retain its Chapter 40 Constructional Defect cases.
  • All of Department 15’s professional negligence/ medical malpractice cases shall be transferred and reassigned to Department 30.

In regard to the Chief Judge:

  • Department 30 shall return to general civil/criminal case assignment and shall retain all currently assigned specialty courts, as well as the Foreclosure Mediation Docket, and will receive 50% of the civil cases currently assigned to Department 24, in addition to the medical malpractice cases currently assigned to Department 15. Any other cases currently assigned to Department 30 shall be reassigned to Department 10.
  • Department 10 shall become the new Chief Judge of the District Court and shall retain its current homicide calendar.
  • All civil cases currently assigned to DC 10 will be distributed as follows: 150 cases to Department 16, and the remaining cases to be randomly reassigned to the remaining departments with civil dockets (Departments I, 2. 3. 4. 5, 6, 7,8, 11, 12, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29).

In regard to Criminal Court:

  • Department 24 shall become a civil/criminal split docket and retain 50% of the currently assigned civil cases, and Department 24 will also be assigned Criminal Track 11 (from Department 9), with calendars on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.
  • All of department 15’s criminal cases (Track 12) will be transferred to Department 2 with calendars on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.
  • Department 2 will retain all currently assigned civil cases and homicide cases.
  • Department 2’s homicide calendar will be heard on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • All of the above-referenced changes will take effect on June 29, 2026, unless otherwise specified.
