Public Notice: Reappointment of U.S. Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler

Comments from members of the State Bar of Nevada and the public are invited as to whether Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the Court.

The current term of United States Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler is due to expire on April 30, 2027. The United States District Court, District of Nevada, is required by law to establish a panel of citizens to consider the reappointment of the magistrate judge for a another eight-year term.

The duties of a magistrate judge include the following: (1) conduct preliminary proceedings in criminal cases; (2) conduct trial and disposition of misdemeanor cases; (3) conduct various pretrial matters and evidentiary proceedings on delegation from the judges of the district court; and (4) conduct trial and disposition of civil cases upon consent of litigants.

Comments from members of the State Bar of Nevada and the public are invited as to whether Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the Court. Comments can be emailed to Debra Kempi, Clerk of Court at:  comments_magistrate@nvd.uscourts.gov.

Comments must be received no later than September 30, 2026
