Statements from candidates in contested race:
Benjamin Doyle, NV Bar # 15210:
I am a current member of the CCBA in good standing and have found such joy participating in the goings on and helping however I can. I am currently one of the co-chairs for the New Lawyers Committee and a member of the Publications Committee. The CCBA and its New Lawyers Committee have reconfirmed my desire be part of something bigger. I am passionate about volunteering and the great causes (and people) make the choice of where to spend my “free” time an easy one.
The CCBA committees all provide such interesting and important services, and the Executive Board presents an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of each and how they come together to achieve unified goals. Regarding representative balance, I have a strong background in several facets of Insurance Defense litigation.
I have extensive prior committee experience from my time with the California Department of Health Care Services. While there, I joined the Disability Advisory Committee. At first, I would help out with various events – specifically the National Disability Employment Awareness Month program. Shortly after I joined, the chairperson of the committee was tapped to become a division chief, and the vice chair ascended to chair. I was nominated as vice chair and took over the role of leading committee meetings when the chair was unable to attend.
During that time, we formed a Veterans with Disabilities Subcommittee, and I served as chair of that. That subcommittee organized a panel discussion, which I moderated, of current employees and veterans to speak about the process of transitioning from active duty to the civilian workforce. When the chair eventually left the DHCS to go into the private sector, I was nominated to take over that role. It was an incredible honor and great opportunity to make a real difference. For example, we learned that our prior method of carving out one day in October to present a host of events and workshops made it more difficult for managers to release their team to attend. To counter that, we spread out our events over the course of October and had some repeat seminars. The following year’s program was much better attended, and managers were pleased that their teams were able to participate with minimal impact to their workflow. It was not always easy working to make everyone feel heard, but that challenge has always been exciting to me.
I will gladly devote myself to the Executive Board and endeavor to assist in any way I can for whatever may be needed. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Alexandra Matloff, NV Bar #16109:
My name is Alexandra Matloff, and I am writing to express my strong interest in serving on the 2025 CCBA Executive Board. I currently practice civil litigation at Wood Smith Henning & Berman, LLP where I defend businesses and individuals in general liability and personal injury lawsuits as well as homebuilders in construction defect matters. I am excited about the possibility of becoming a member of the Executive Board because I want to support the success of this outstanding organization by embracing additional responsibilities. The chance to work with our talented Executive Board members and connect with our current and future members in contributing to the CCBA’s purpose and goals would be an incredible opportunity.
I am a CCBA member in good standing and currently serve as Co-Chair of the CCBA’s New Lawyers Committee. In this role, I have helped to recruit new members and cultivate relationships among our current members, thus extending the CCBA’s presence in our legal community. In organizing opportunities for our members to serve as judges for competitions held at the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, I have helped strengthen the connection between the CCBA and the law school. In helping to plan and execute our signature networking events, including the Holiday Mixer, Pub Crawl, After Bar Mixer, and Meet Your Law Students Mixer, my fellow Committee members and I have contributed to the CCBA’s reputation as “the fun bar.” Last year, I was honored to receive the CCBA Committee Circle of Support Award. Whether running one of our monthly New Lawyers Committee meetings, welcoming newly admitted lawyers at the Bar Admission Ceremonies, or working check-in at the Meet Your Judges Mixer, I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with amazing colleagues and sharing ideas to help make the CCBA the best organization that it can be.
If given the opportunity to serve on the Executive Board, I will work with our current Executive Board members to further strengthen the CCBA both internally and externally. I will find ways to encourage collaboration among our five committees to enhance involvement at events and maximize the value of each committee’s role in the CCBA. I will help the organization continue to seek the support of law firms and vendors in order to increase sponsorship for our mixers. Furthermore, I will help the Executive Board build upon the networking opportunities currently provided to our members and help to create new ones. Finally, I will continue to encourage attorneys, judges, law students, legal staff, and vendors to join this incredible organization.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
