Las Vegas Justice Court Orders Policies for Pro Tem Justices of the Peace

On February 17, 2022, the Las Vegas Justice Court filed an order in the administrative matter regarding justices of the peace pro tempore. See Administrative Order 22-02.

On February 17, 2022, the Las Vegas Justice Court filed an order in the administrative matter regarding justices of the peace pro tempore. See Administrative Order 22-02.

Per the order, signed by Chief Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa, “All justices of the peace pro tempore are authorized to perform judicial functions for the category in which they were selected by the Board of County Commissioners and for which they subscribed the official oath making them subject to the Revised Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct as set forth in Part IV of the Application section.”

The order includes specific detail as to some of the judicial functions, including:

  • Making Appearances and Being Listed as Attorney of Record
  • Recusal
  • Election Restrictions
  • Recruitment Processes
  • Restrictions on Duties
  • Disqualification

Additionally, Administrative Order 22-02 states, “the Administrative Order 16-04 is rescinded in its entirety, and previous Administrative Order 11-10 remains rescinded.”
