A. Collins Hunsaker to Present Estate Planning CLE Program on November 17, 2021

Estate planning lawyer A. Collins Hunsaker will make a special presentation for the continuing education of Nevada lawyers in a program produced by the CCBA’s CLE Committee on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Collins will present “What Every Lawyer Should Know about Estate Planning” to highlight relevant information for Nevada lawyers. The presentation will cover the basics of estate planning. Topics to be discussed are: How to avoid Probate;
Planning with Trusts versus Wills;
Revocable vs. Irrevocable Trusts;
Asset Protection Planning with Trusts and other entities; Understanding taxation as it applies to estate planning. The presentation will offer 1.0 CLE credit and is for CCBA members only. Pricing of this CLE program is included with the 2021 CCBA membership. RSVP to the CCBA by 11/16/2021.

Nevada Lawyers to Present Legislative Update CLE Program on November 9, 2021

On November 9, 2021, three Nevada lawyers will make a special presentation for the continuing education of Nevada lawyers in a program produced by the CCBA’s CLE Committee. The program, “Legislative Update: Looking In & Out,” highlight relevant information related to the following topics: adoption, immigration, civil litigation, health care, education, criminal justice reform, and tips from the Legislator. CCBA Book Drive to Benefit Spread the Word Nevada

Members of the bar are invited to donate books to benefit Spread the Word Nevada. Now through December 31, 2021, drop-off new or gently-used books with Pre-K to 5th grade reading levels to the CCBA. No encyclopedias, coloring books, or library books. Call the CCBA at 702-387-6011 to confirm drop-off time and for more information.

Support Sought for Blanket the Homeless Program

The CCBA’s Community Service Committee is seeking support for the “Blanket the Homeless” a community service project of the Clark County Bar Association and the Clark County Law Foundation. This annual activity helps to provide rescue blankets to local homeless people. Members can support our efforts by donating monies and/or volunteering their time and energies.

Volunteers Needed to Judge UNLV Client Counseling Competition

The Clark County Bar Association is recruiting Nevada attorneys and judges to volunteer at the William S. Boyd School of Law’s 23rd Annual Client Counseling Competition scheduled for Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9, 2021. Most volunteers will be needed for the preliminary round on Friday, October 8. Volunteers should be Nevada attorneys, judges, or mediators. Bench, Bar Leaders to Discuss Diversity in the Legal Profession at Luncheon on October 21, 2021

On Thursday, October 21, 2021, the CCBA will host “Diversity in the Legal Community” a special luncheon event featuring a panel discussion about diversity, inclusion, and equity in the legal profession with notable members of Nevada’s legal community. This event offers 1.0 hour of continuing legal education (CLE) for Nevada lawyers. This in-person event will be held in the Bel Air Banquet Room, inside the Golden Nugget located in downtown Las Vegas. Members of the State Bar of Nevada and the CCBA are invited to attend at no charge. Seating will be limited. RSVP is required to the Clark County Bar Association by Friday, October 15, 2021.
